Aerial Stock Media Guidelines
Creative or Conceptual Content: usually a planned photo or video shoot, frequently featuring models.
Users acquire licenses for this content to advertise a product, service, or concept through:
- â—‹ Advertisements and various marketing initiatives
- â—‹ Television and film productions
Before the artists/drone pilots can issue a license for commercial use, written releases are necessary for:
- â—‹ any recognizable models in the footage,
- â—‹ any identifiable location, building, or object (real or intellectual property) prominently featured in the shot.
Informative and Educational Content: usually not prearranged.
Users obtain licenses for this content to portray newsworthy or public interest topics to their audience through:
- â—‹ Documentaries
- â—‹ Museum exhibits
- â—‹ Books and magazines
- â—‹ News stories
The content must not be used in a context other than intended by the customer and cannot undergo significant editing. Typically, no written releases or permissions are required for editorial use.
Places and Edifices
In order for contributors to provide a commercial use license to their customers, they need to possess property releases for all notable residences, monuments, major theme parks, landmarks, and government buildings prominently showcased in their content. Key considerations comprise:
- â—‹ The property in focus: easily identifiable in the clip, such as unique residences, heritage sites, and estates.
- â—‹ Main subject of the content: not incidental or random.
- â—‹ Privately owned: a home or business.
Skylines & Urban Views
A property release is necessary when a building is identifiable and serves as the setting or primary subject of the photo. However, city skylines where no single building takes precedence as the main subject can be used commercially without a release.

Admission-based Venues
For all ticketed events, a property release or permit is mandatory to confirm that you have authorization to film. Any content created within a venue (property) that necessitates visitors to pay admission for entry such as a stadium, arena, concert hall, opera house, movie theatre, or museum requires a release.
Sports
Media from sports events, including those sanctioned by entities such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, NCAA, FIFA, Olympics, NASCAR, Formula One, Premier League, Australian Football League, Tour de France, and any other similar governing bodies, whether major or minor league, must not be published on Drone by Nature platform without proper permission.
Even if you have obtained credentials to cover a sports event, it is essential to ensure that you have the right to license the content.
Sports media from local high schools and non-NCAA sanctioned events may not have the stringent restrictions that apply to major sports events, but obtaining permission to film in a local high school or university, especially when filming minors, may be necessary.
Entertainment
During theatrical, musical, and other performances and events requiring a ticket for admission, the right to record the proceedings may be restricted by the event promoter, organizer, sponsor, or venue. In such cases, it is crucial to confirm that you have the right to license the content. Additionally, recordings of performances of copyrighted works typically require additional permissions.
Music or identifiable voices in commercial footage necessitate releases. Even if you own the music, a release is still mandatory. If there are no releases for background audio, kindly remove the audio before uploading.
Logos
If multiple logos are visible, and no single brand prominently stands out, the clip can be accepted for commercial use, especially in situations like skyline or cityscape shots.
However, when one logo is clearly visible or is the primary focus of the shot, a release is necessary.
Art
For commercial use, all forms of artwork, including tattoos and graffiti, require property releases.
