Aerial Stock Media Guidelines
Effective titles play a crucial role in driving traffic to your content and, consequently, boosting your sales. To maximize the impact of your titles and ensure the approval of your items, adhere to the following guidelines:
â—‹ Use Descriptive Titles
Opt for engaging and unique titles that provide a clear description of your content. For instance, a title like “African Oystercatcher Bird Feeding in Estuary, Eats Worm, 4K” offers specific details about the species, activity, location, and quality of the footage, making it more appealing than a generic title like “Bird in the Water.”
â—‹ Ensure Title Uniqueness
Strive for unique titles for each item, even if the content is similar. Utilize slight variations and synonyms to help your content stand out in search results.
â—‹ Prioritize Precision
Keep titles readable, concise, and to the point. Aim for an ideal length of 40-60 characters (maximum 80 characters).
â—‹ Use English Language Titles
Unless referring to specific places or objects more likely to be searched for in their native language, stick to English language titles.
â—‹ Provide Editorial Captions
For editorial videos or photos, include a caption in the format: CITY, COUNTRY – MONTH/DAY/YEAR, providing a factual description of the image content.
Â
Avoid the Following
â—‹ Avoid Number Codes
Refrain from using number codes in titles, as you can track your items in the “My Uploads” section under the “Tech Data” tab. Numbering clips for personal reference is unnecessary (e.g., Pink Flamingo 001, Pink Flamingo 002).
â—‹ Exclude File Extensions
Do not include file extensions (e.g., .mov or .jpg) in your titles.
â—‹ Minimize Word Repetition
Avoid repeating a single word multiple times, as this can negatively impact search results.
â—‹ Check for Spelling Mistakes
While there’s no automated spellchecking, ensure your titles are free from spelling errors. Consider using tools like Grammarly for a quick and effective spell check.
Keywords serve as identifiers or labels for your media files, allowing you to add up to 50 descriptive terms for each uploaded file. The more effectively you incorporate useful information into your keywords, the simpler it becomes for buyers to discover and acquire your content. While the minimum requirement is 5 keywords, optimal performance is typically achieved with 10-20 descriptive keywords.Â
Avoid the temptation to use “spam” keywords in the hopes of improving search results. Including irrelevant tags can harm the performance of your clips. Trying to manipulate the system by loading keywords or clip titles with popular search terms unrelated to your media may, in fact, result in your files dropping in the search ranking.
To sell media as cleared for commercial use, it’s mandatory to have model and property releases. However, for media intended for editorial use, model and/or property releases may not be necessary (refer to details below).
Â
Model Release
- â—‹ Required for each recognizable individual.
- â—‹ Required for recognizable voices.
- â—‹ Must include a recognizable photo of the model that is not a frame grab from the item submission itself.
Â
Property Release
- â—‹ Required if a recognizable landmark, building, or property appears in the work.
- â—‹ Required if copyrighted music/sounds are in an audio track.
- â—‹ Required if media contains trademarks, logos, or brands.
Feel free to use our standard Model Release and our Property Release Agreement . While it’s not mandatory to use our releases for your uploaded media, if you opt for a different release, it should essentially contain the same information.
Acceptable formats for signed releases include: JPG, PDF, DOC, TIF. Please note that release files must be at least 5KB in size.
You will just have to submit your release and attach the uploaded release to your media.
At Drone by Nature, we are committed to fair and rewarding compensation for our contributors. Through our pay-per-item model, stock media contributors retain 78% or 80% of the licensing fee they set per sale. They have the option to donate 2% of their earnings to leading sustainability NGOs, creating a meaningful impact.
In our Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) offering, contributors keep 100% of their earnings from services provided while also having the choice to donate 2% of the US$15 contact access fee paid by customers to an NGO of their choice. This model empowers contributors to give back on their own terms while maximizing their revenue, fostering both financial success and environmental impact.
For pricing guidance, please refer to our Analytics section.
Upon making a sale, we’ll notify you via email. Once your balance reaches the payout limit which is US$20, we’ll issue payment through the payout method you’ve chosen in your account. Payouts are processed on the 25th of each month.
We advise maintaining the original price you’ve set for your content once you begin making sales. Our data indicates that increasing prices after sales can reduce the likelihood of repeat sales.
You should also avoid pricing your content higher than the standard market rates.
